UNITED REFORMED CHURCH     BRAMHALL

Church Covenant 2002

 Confessing our faith in one God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit
and
taking the Father to be our Father,
the Son to be our Saviour and Lord,
the Holy Spirit to be our helper and guide,

we,
the members of the United Reformed Church
in Bramhall,
thank God
for all that has been achieved through his grace
over the first one hundred years
in the life of our congregation

and we covenant together

to worship God according to his word
and in the light provided by his Spirit,
always ready to adapt
so that we may offer appropriate and accessible worship for all ages;

to form a community in which pastoral care is offered
so that all may be sure of help in time of need
and be encouraged to find that mature faith
which brings joy and peace in believing;

To provide the opportunity for all ages
to gain
an ever clearer understanding of the Christian Faith
and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ
in the 21st century;

to use our resources
as we engage with the needs of the community,
becoming agents for change
in the political and social life
of our neighbourhood and nation;

to foster good relationships
within the United Reformed Church
and with other Christian denominations,
as far as possible
sharing the tasks of mission with local churches;

to share – as God enables us –
all the burdens and responsibilities
and to welcome all the opportunities and challenges
arising from
our commitment to honour and serve Jesus Christ
in the world;

to be a community which offers a warm welcome
to people of all ages,
inviting them to share our life together
as we try to live
in accord with the love of God
as it is seen in Jesus Christ.
